capital cities and currently the owners of Cavalon have a lock on anyone being allowed access to it when any can enter as long as someone from controlling alliance brings them in.

So IF a player friendly alliance were to take control of Cavalon would the entrance be through Cavalon itself? Sry for the noob questions.

Sorry, not racist, my fault there. I simply meant prejudice, which can be against members of another country regardless of their race.

Umm... what? I can joke about democracy too, and have in the past. That doesn't mean that the governmental system is a joke, it just means that I can be lighthearted about it.

Time consuming it may be (time that most of the population of GW doesn't have) but skill full it is not. It's not even hard. So where is the work?
Work doesn't have to be skillfull, repetative work may be easy but it's some of the worst work to have to do imo.

They are asking for alternative goals that actually show ones skill at the game like reaching certain titles.
People are asking for this yes, but I am not talking about people in general I am discussing the current thread, in which the general consensus is that the controlling alliance should give everyone free access.

did real life work to earn the money to buy the game then we should have access to 100% of the game
Although this is used a lot, it is a stupid argument. I mean seriously, think about what you're saying. You obviously can't have all the high content, everyone currently has an equal chance to achieve it but obviously not everyone will. That's like saying you want to participate in the seasonal championship matches just because you bought the game.

So you agree that the people who have access to this mission (a mission that is considered to be elite and that only elite people should have access) are not elite and merely farmers who have the time to farm the faction.
They earned the position by grinding and working when others did not. I for one do not think the missions are worth the grind, but people that did do the grind definitly deserve the missions for the amount of dedication they have shown in achieving the goal.

Quote:
Anet said that no farming was required, that the casual player can stand up against any full time player competitively because it is based on skill not time spent playing.
You can still be just as competative without the elite missions. This is just like how you had to grind to get FoW armor or high end weapons. PvE has always been about the grind, but I would rather it be for faction than for gold. Neither makes you more competative in any way, it simply gives you access to high end material.

Quote:
Not only should PvP have nothing to do with it but the PvE
Actually, GWF was supposed to interlock PvP and PvE more than previously in order to stop such extremes that were developing in GWP. This has been shown especially in the Cooperative and Competative Challenge Missions that can only be accessed by PvE characters. I for one like this change.

No, all that farming actually earns you is the honour of being a complete loser. See WoW raid guilds for another example of people who deserve to be dragged out into the street and shot so that they don't pollute the gene pool.

Default The Deep Has Been Libertated

The Crusaders Alliance has liberated the Deep.

As I said, we're not stingy about it either! Just find someone from the alliance to let you in. Me, I'll be busy farming. (I actually enjoy farming faction more than PvE missions.)

Thanks goes out to the following guilds...
  • Chest Farmers Anonymous
  • Lets Farm Green
  • Spirit Of Harmony
  • Stalker Supremacy
  • The Last Hero
  • The Little Nutters
  • The Next Chapter
  • The Short Bus
  • The Swift Assassins

There's room in those guilds if you want to join.
Remember... together we can keep Cavalon open for all!

I believe some members of TC have already addressed that I am not in TC, but let me go further. When I posted this thread, I did it without the knowledge, consent, approval, or whatever, of TC, anyone in their alliance, or anyone else for that matter.

The idea of the community pooling resources was mine and mine alone. I thought the idea of opening it to the public was mine, but perhaps not. At the time I posted this, I thought the second place alliance was much further behind than TC was. I guess their city is not on my map ?

This post stemmed from reading another long-running thread of complaints against the current setup and how unfair it was only such a small group gets to do the elite mission. I saw a lot of complaining, but not a solution. I meant this to be a possible solution.

I'm not going to go searching for the exact quotes of ANet on this, but everybody, apparently except Jagflame, knows that ANet says this mission was designed for the most elite players. They have NEVER said the most grinding alliance would be rewarded with this elite mission. Are you seriously trying to convince people that grinding was ANet's desire here ? Here's a suggestion for JagFlame: read anything that ANet has ever said about access to the elite mission, and you will find something other than grinding. And make no mistake, getting faction by running the supplies quest requires nothing but grind. It does not take an elite player to do this. Any monk with healing breeze, spell breaker, and a running buff (storm chaser for ranger secondary) can do this easily. And if you avoid the Oni, spell breaker isn't even necessary. And if it's that easy for a monk, imagine a warrior, ranger, or assassin. How elite is that?

We obviously disagree on what ANet is hoping to accomplish in Factions. You think they want to keep prices out of reach of the casual player who does not want to grind hours on hours. I see them increase drop rates of superior runes, purple and gold items, giving gold, and ways of acquiring such things as bags, runes of holding, salvage kits other than purchase, for quest rewards. What I see ANet doing is everything they can to make many more things available to the casual players who do not want to spend so much of their time farming.

You think ANet wants the attainability of the drops in the elite missions to be only attainable by those very few who faction farm better than any others. You think ANet wants the price of these items to be so outrageous that only the faction farmers can get them.

I obviously disagree. I believe ANet's desire for the rewards in this mission is exactly what they have publicized it to be: rewarding the most elite players, based on skill not grind. I see ANet has created a very difficult, the most challenging of any other in the game, mission that by Black Blades' admission takes well over 4 hours to complete. This is where the elite players are separated from the non-elite. Average players will not have the skill to defeat the mobs necessary to get those items. Elite players will. ANet never intended for the entrance key to be the test - instead it was the mission itself that would be the test.

Further, ANet designed this game "Factions" to be about players and guilds banning together to fight for a common cause. I believe this thread is about this very thing, perhaps taken to a level that even ANet probably didnt' anticipate, but maybe they did.

I have been playing this game for several months now, and I spend a lot, probably too much, time playing it. I read these forums, I read the skills, builds, etc, to become as skilled a player as I can because I enjoy playing this game and want to learn as much about it as possible. I think opening up the most elite mission to the community so we can test ourselves, learn how good we really are in PvE, and improve our skills is a great idea. I hope we make this happen.

Thanks.

P.S. I have seen references to what I suggested about locking out the current Cavalon holders from the elite mission and I would like to clear this up. I addressed it previously, but I'll reiterate. It was not meant as anything personal against the Black Blades or any type of "punishment". I suggested it only as a method of keeping the mission open to the community easier to maintain. My logic was that the members of Black Blades would want the guild tag removed from their name so they would be allowed in, then the alliance wouldn't pose as much of a threat to retaking. That was it. I have since figured that they could just disband to get in, but later regroup at any time, which would defeat this idea. I thought I had posted that refutation, but perhaps not. Either way, several members of TS have since stated that they will not implement that ban, so it's somewhat of a moot point. I just wanted to clarify that it was not ill-will or hard feelings toward Black Blades that fueled my suggestion. They have every right to do what they are doing. Just as we as a community have every right to do what this thread suggests.

edit: Long posts take time to write. In the mean time, although I haven't logged in, I see a post that the Deep has been liberated !!!! Congrats to all who helped, TC or otherwise.

Just on a side note, we took Cavalon by ourselves with no outside donations for everyone in a certain alliance that seem to be talking a lot of smack now. Again, we don't require and aren't begging for faction as demonstrated we can do this on our own. We were just saying we're open to people wanting to donate faction to keep the deep open to all. It creates a less stressfull workload on us as a whole and also keeps us comfortably ahead of the competition. Wouldn't it be better to free up some people in our alliance to take people into the deep? As it stands now BkBd is going to make a very hard push and that's fine by us. We've kept our word and first thing we did (aside from fireworks) was pull people in groups allowing them in.

Log on today and see cavalon was taken from those "im better then everyone jerks" in the bkbd.

I commend you guys on allowing others free access. Now that's elite in it's purest form.

I personally think that TC are a bunch of fags who screw up Arena Net's whole idea for Elite Missions. This is because of 1 HUGE reason.
1. Elite Missions are MADE FOR ONLY ALLIANCE MEMBERS, as soon as you allow everyone into the Elite Mission it screws with why Arena Net made the Elite Missions.

I am a member of the Black Blades, so maybe I am just pissed that we lost Cavalon to a bunch of cheaters. But I believe that yall letting in everyone is pretty freaking screwed, and I'm hoping that another alliance will take Cavalon and use it as A-Net ment it.

I also believe that yalls getting everyone to donate faction to you is a load, and that is another reason why TC do not deserve the Deep. Yall had the world working for u and yall finally won Cavalon I hope yall are happy that it took players from just about every alliance to take a single alliance, who got all our faction on our own.

So to some all of this up I will say these final few points.
1. Get your own freaking faction.
2. Don't screw with A-Net's plan for elite missions.
3. Call me an Elitist, or a jerk, or just about anything else yall want. But at least are not f***ing cheaters.

Yours Truly, Akasun Sasori

I am all too happy to send a big fat "up yours" to Anet for this stupid idea.

You're right, they don't. *everyone* does. Good thing TC ain't hoarding it.

Now Kurzicks just need a similar alliance...

I think community has different opinion - they deserve at least try what they all paid for... And no, I don't think we've screwed elite mission, we aren't just the bunch of "elitists" that want everything for themselves. Anyway, it's your opinion, you can blame us for whatever you want, but for now it's our city and we can do whatever we want with it, whether you like it or not.

Well I just did a nice lil' run in The Deep, was just idling in Cavalon when a friendly chap asked if I wanted to join up in the Elite.

Made it to the 8th room, got crappy loot (personally, others got nice Zod stuff :<) but one damn nice experience, the mission is really, really cool. Thanks for TC for the opportunity, and I'd be glad to see this arrangement going on further on.
